Tinubu orders security agencies to hunt down terrorists behind Niger attack

President Bola Tinubu has ordered security agencies to locate and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the attack on the Kasuwan Daji community in Niger State. He also directed that all abducted victims be rescued without delay.

This directive, issued on Sunday, calls for immediate action from the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS). The information was shared in a statement by Presidential spokesperson Mr. Bayo Onanuga in Abuja.

Tinubu’s order follows the killing of villagers and the abduction of women and children by terrorists suspected to be fleeing from Sokoto State and Zamfara after a U.S. airstrike on Christmas Eve.

The president condemned the attack on the Kasuwan Daji community, labeling it barbaric and unacceptable. He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Niger State.

“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people,” Tinubu stated. “They must face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent may be, they must be hunted down. Those who aid, abet, or enable them in any form will also be caught and brought to justice.”

The president assured Niger residents that security agencies have been instructed to intensify operations around vulnerable communities, particularly in areas near forests often used as criminal hideouts.

He emphasized that the Federal Government will not allow criminal elements to destabilize communities or undermine national security.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain united and resolute in the face of this tragedy, warning against divisive rhetoric that could weaken national cohesion.

“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison,” he concluded.
